| TASTE
OF CHAOS AUSTRALIA BOUND
In March this
year, The Used sold all 5,500 tickets for their only Australian
headline concert in just one hour. On the eve of this Sydney concert,
the band has made the announcement that fans across the country
have so desperately awaited.
The international
touring sensation, TASTE OF CHAOS is heading to
Australia this October. Appearing in arena venues in Sydney, Melbourne,
Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, the Taste Of Chaos Australian shows
will be anchored by THE USED along with
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, STORY OF THE YEAR,
FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND and RISE AGAINST.
Taste Of Chaos
is a tour package that debuted earlier this year in the United States
and Canada. The tour was the brainchild of Kevin Lyman (who founded
and produced the highly successful Vans Warped Tour over the past
decade), John Reese of Freeze Management (a Southern California
based management powerhouse) and Darryl Eaton of Creative Artist
Agency. The multi-artist package featured The Used, My Chemical
Romance, Killswitch Engage and others performing 37 total dates
in the United States. The tour was without question, the concert
event of the 2005 American touring season with all dates selling
out, prompting Brad Kava of the San Jose Mercury news to say "...
at Monday night's sold-out Taste of Chaos show at San Jose State's
Event Center, it appeared that rock is not only healthy, but probably
will be around as long as Beethoven." Hurley International
has signed on as the International Version's Title Sponsor.
Fresh from
the phenomenal success of the American tour, Taste Of Chaos’
key players have decided to not only continue the tour in the future,
but most importantly for Australian fans they’ve decided to
take it global!
"It's
with great enthusiasm that we are announcing the International Version
of Taste of Chaos," says co founder Kevin Lyman.
"The
U.S. and Canadian tour was so well received that we decided to take
the concept Worldwide. People from all corners of the globe have
been emailing us with their desire to have this tour come to their
home countries. We could not help but heed the call.”
John Reese
of Freeze Management echo's Lyman's philosophy about what made Taste
Of Chaos in the United States so successful.
"We will
continue to enhance our mission of providing the best bands and
lifestyle activities at a very reasonable ticket price so that people
can enjoy a great night of entertainment without draining their
wallet, it is really a principle that works anywhere in the World
and we will prove it."
Aside from
Australia, the International Taste of Chaos will be hitting Mexico,
Japan, the UK, and Germany, starting October 16 and running through
to November 20, 2005.
Some additional carry-over from the U.S. and Canadian edition of
the tour will be the MySpace Acoustic Stage. This stage will feature
local bands showcasing their music in front of hometown crowds in
each country.
Darryl Eaton of CAA adds; "it's important that fans who attend
these shows experience everything that made the U.S. and Canadian
Tour so successful. This is not a watered down mini-version of the
tour, we consider this the same version that will include additional
interactive surprises that were seen and enjoyed by fans in the
U.S. and Canada." Some early tour partner commitments include
the aforementioned myspace.com, Hurley International, Ernie Ball,
and PETA. In addition to promoter The Frontier Touring Company,
Australian tour presenters will include triple j's short fast loud,
Channel [V], and Bombshellzine.
When asked about the International Tour Bert McCracken of THE USED
said, "we had so much fucking fun on the first go round in
the U.S. and Canada that we just had to sign up for the international
run.
"Kevin
Lyman is still a really smart motherfucker who understands how to
pick the best bands and give kids value for their money whether
it is in Euros, Pounds or Yen… Hey, is Grey Goose available
abroad?"

THE
USED
Bert McCracken
(vocals), Quinn Allman (guitar), Jeph Howard (bass) and Branden
Steineckert (drums) are The Used. The Orem, Utah-based quartet is
made up of four distinct personalities, each with individual musical
tastes that don't always overlap and strong ideals that are often
diametrically opposed. The chemistry might have combusted a lesser
band before it even started, but the equally passionate friendships
and shared hardships that make up The Used have held it together.
In Australia
this May for a whirlwind visit with a one-off headline concert in
Sydney and an appearance in Brisbane on Crusty Demon’s, The
Used have a fan base across Australia that is truly phenomenal.
Come May 9, Warner Music will release a repackage of In Love and
Death along with new single All That I Got. [WARNER MUSIC]

| KILLSWITCH
ENGAGE
Killswitch
Engage have not merely become standard-bearers for GENERATION HEAVY.
With The End of Heartache, the standard has been pushed aside. Trampled.
Heavy music is, once again, re-ignited by a band unafraid to rewrite
the rules of the game.
Alive or Just Breathing, the band's Roadrunner debut was called,
"more addictive than crack cocaine thats been smothered in
nicotine AND drenched with chocolate by CMJ New Music Report and
was a signpost on the bands musical journey toward their third release,
The End of Heartache (out now through Roadrunner).
The current
version of Killswitch consists of Adam Dutkiewicz (guitar), Joel
Stroetzel (guitar), Mike D (bass), Howard Jones (vocals) and Justin
Foley (drummer). All the members of this band bring to it a respectability
and integrity that collectively has made a mark on bands throughout
the heavy music scene. [ROADRUNNER]

FUNERAL
FOR A FRIEND
In an age
of musical fusion and genre straddling hybrids there are few surprises
and fewer revelations. Funeral For A Friend are truly an exception.
Taking the
emotional drive and melodic heart of emo, the gut-driven power of
rock and the hardworking ethic of hardcore, FFAF are as potent and
intense a band as you could wish for. And while there is undeniably
a muscular aggression within their sound, their true strength lies
in their dedication to the art of writing songs!
Like Jimmy
Eat World, Boy Sets Fire, Hundred Reasons and Waterdown, Funeral
For A Friend are fuelled by emotion and a desire to captivate through
the power of their music. The gloriously expressive voice of Matt
Davies soars over the layered and complex interplay of the band,
creating an entity that truly boasts a beating heart. ‘Streetcar’,
the first single from their new album ‘Hours’ is set
for a June release in Australia. [WARNER MUSIC]

| STORY
OF THE YEAR
Here’s
the Story Of The Year: rock ‘n’ roll – real, raw
and revealing – is back.
It’s a newsflash straight from the heartland of St. Louis,
Missouri, where the creative chemistry of five committed young musicians
Dan Marsala (vocals), Ryan Phillips (guitar), Phillip Sneed (guitar),
Adam Russell (bass), and Josh Wills (drums), first reached critical
mass five years ago, exploding with an original sound that pushed
the stakes for pure punk energy, hard-edged live performances and
dangerous fun to the limit.
Their well-earned
big break came when they won a local radio contest for a place on
the bill at Point Fest, a music festival showcasing the cream of
the Mid-western scene. "We saturated that crowd," boasts
Adam. “We handed out thousands of sampler CD’s and videos
to anyone and everyone we met. We were determined to make the most
of the opportunity."
Story of The
Year's new Album IN THE WAKE OF DETERMINATION
is being readied for an October 11 release on Maverick Records.
The album is heavier and more guitar driven than their debut
release. The album was produced by Steve Evetts (The Cure, Hatebreed,
Saves The Day, Dillinger Escape Plan)
Story of The
Year is on the Warped Tour Main Stage August 3-August 15 and will
be one of the headliners on the 2005 International Taste of Chaos
in October and November (Australia, Japan, UK and Germany)

RISE
AGAINST
Armed with
the fury of classic punk acts as Minor Threat and Bad Brains, blended
with intelligent vocals and a serious commitment to providing a
positive alternative to the oft-dreary and disenchanted aura that
engulfs most punk bands, Chicago’s Rise Against might be seen
as an outcast amongst its peers.
"It was
almost cool to be negative, especially around Chicago,” bassist
Joe Principe recalls. "So, vocalist Tim [McIlrath] and I had
this main goal of putting a positive light on things. There are
so many bands that sing about negative things, and we kind of wanted
to use this to show people it’s OK to voice your opinions
and stay positive. We just wanted to be more productive, lyrically."
Furthering
their message and support was of the utmost importance to Rise Against.
Some of the causes Rise Against support include fighting against
racism in punk rock, animal rights, inhumane electro-shock therapy
on patients and PunkVoter.com, a Fat Wreck-sponsored campaign to
defeat the re-election of President Bush.
Rise Against
wowed crowds at this year’s Big Day Out, furthering their
popularity down under. Their latest album ‘Sirens Songs Of
The Counter Culture’ is out now. [UNIVERSAL]
